Week 3 Question
I have picked the Ball State Equestrian team as my subculture. I will be attending their meetings, and visiting the stables in which they ride. They have two stables and it just so happens that they are really close to where i live back home. So when i go home on the weekend i can go visit the site, as well as during the week if i get a chance. If I were to ask someone walking down the street what they think of the Equestrian Team i would just ask them that. Most people have probably heard of them but they arent sure what all they do, and where they meet since there are obviously no stables on campus. There are a variety of people that belong to this subculture. Boys, girls, freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors of Ball State. From observing them once already i can tell you that mainly the people involved in the subculture are country girls and boys who love horses.

Ann that’s a very cool site that you have chosen. It is also very convenient that it is rather close to your house. I don’t know if it is an Indiana thing or just a horse thing but I have never heard of anything remotely close to a Equestrian team, let alone knowing that Ball State had one. I’m from Columbus, Ohio and obviously I know what a horse is, but we don’t really have any stables or things like that relatively close to home. By your last statement, does that imply that you’re a country girl who may like horses?
I like the subculture you picked! That would be so fun to get to do. Will you particatate in the equestrian team or are you going to be observing? I think it be fun to actually get to ride them and such. My boy friend has horses at home that they ride sometimes, I don't think they get out much in the cold. Will the equestrian team still be meeting even in this cold weather?
Ann, wow I did not even know that Ball State had equestrian team. To tell the truth I did not even know what that meant until I read further in your blog. That is a really fantastic and unique group to study because most people would not even think of that team. I wish that my location was close to my team. That alone must make it pretty easy to go and observe. I bet that you will learn a lot.
I'm not really surprised that you picked this group, despite the fact that I did not even know we had a equestrian team. It works out pretty good that it is right next to your house so atleast you do not have to go very far to research your project.
That's a really interesting subculture. I have never met anyone on the equestrian team. I have a friend back home who is really into riding horses. I think that the stereotype of someone on the equestrian team is a country raised individual. It would be difficult to ride horses if you are from a larger city. It would be really cool if you got to ride the horses! I myself am not a fan of animals, but its neat that there are people so into them.
My mom and sister are very enthusiastic horse riders. I think that anyone who rides them fall in love with them. I think the equestrian team is interesting and will help open up some people's eyes to what horse riding is and what it means just by researching the team because the members are so dedicated.
