The theme that i think thats running through my research is relaxed and easy going. Everyone on the equestrian team is pretty laid back, easy to talk to, and just want to have fun and ride horses.
I believe that my place in the culture is about the same. I know more of the people and have talked to more members but i am still an outsider because i really dont hang out with any of the members outside of the equestrian things. So i believe that i am still somewhat of an outsider but hopefully that will change by the end of the semester.

It sounds like you have a good idea of what you are doing with the project in terms of its direction. Hopefully it won't take very long for you to become a iside member.
I think you are on the right track once again. I think you just need to spend a little more time with your research group and get a few more interviews to help point you in a final direction. But I think you're getting there so keep it up!! :)
You seem very into this culture. With that in mind is there a reason you do not do anything socially with members of the group? You say hopefully your status as an outsider will change, are there any hinderences to your joining?
